Lemon

Lemon is a citrus, the fruit of the lemon tree, from the Rutaceae family. Its thick and fragrant skin is yellow or bright green. Its zesty and juicy flesh is divided into quarters. Originally from Kashmir, limung spread to Persia. From the tenth century onwards, the Arabs brought it to the whole Mediterranean basin. Spaniards and Russians named it limon, which became lemon in English, while in France it was called "citron" taken from the Latin. Historically, Citrus medica limonum has been given a wide range of medicinal properties. The reputation of lemon is linked to its high vitamin C content, which protected sailors from scurvy during their long sea voyages.
